A strikingly beautiful large-scale French Louis XV Gilt carved console c.1750
An elaborately carved water-gilded console, with sumptuous rocaille and exaggerated Baroque ornament. The undulating cabriole legs are surmounted by a pair of elegantly carved portraits of winged Angels.
Centrally, an open Rococo scalloped shell is interlaced with flora and scroll work. The apron features delicate scalloped edges and a shell motif entwined by acanthus leaves.
