Pair of Green Glazed Castelnaudary Urns c.1850

A pair of almost identical French Castelnaudary green glazed Earthernware pottery garden urns from the mid-19th century c.1850.
Created in provincial France at the beginning of emperor Napoleon III's reign, these renowned pottery rustic garden urns feature a green glazed body decorated with four handles connected to a tapering belly and resting on a circular base.
They would make perfect jardinieres for citrus trees, which of course was their original purpose.
