French “Vendange” Wine Tasting Tilt-top Table c.1880
A superb mixed fruit wood French “Vendange” wine-tasting table with unusual v-shaped supporting struts. With wonderful original painted decoration of the symbol for Bordeaux (the midnight moon over the rising waters) flanked by the symbols of the Vineyard itself. c.1880
This table is from a Vineyard in the South of France, where typically they would be used to display the wines for the wine tastings and sellings once yearly, and also for the party at the end of the grape-picking Harvests. A vineyard depending on size would always own a number of these tables. Size listed is when table is assembled for use. Folded size 118 cm high x 115 cm wide x 50 cm deep
