A huge scale composite stone garden sculpture depicting a young Triton as a double-tailed Merman.
Triton was a mythical messenger and the son of sea-god Poseidon. Late 20th Century.
His tails resemble those of fish or dolphins. Unlike his father Poseidon who is always fully anthropomorphic in ancient art, Triton's lower half is that of a fish, while the top half is presented in a human figure.
Triton dwelt with his parents in glorious underwater golden palaces. Poseidon's palace was said to be located at Aegae on Euboea in a passage of Homer's Iliad.
A mystical mythological creature to add magic to your garden, as a statement sculpture or perhaps added to a water feature.
