Chris Holmes Antiques specialises in rare, unusual and carefully sourced pieces gathered from respected collections across Britain and Europe. Based in a Grade II listed building in Knaresborough, our two-floor gallery brings together a distinctive and very personal collection: Roman and Greek artefacts, Medieval works, 16th- and 17th-century Italian decorative pieces, Folk Art, architectural salvage and contemporary art. Each object is chosen for its character, integrity and the story it carries.

Led by husband-and-wife team antique dealer Chris Holmes and artist Chloë Holt, the business draws on decades of combined experience in the antiques trade and fine art world. Our approach is defined by connoisseurship, careful research and a genuine respect for the history of every item we handle.

Knaresborough is renowned as an idyllic beauty spot. Sights including: the remains of Knaresborough Castle; Mother Shipton’s Cave; St Roberts’ Cave (dating back to the Middle Ages) and the railway viaduct over the River Nidd famous for its boating and surrounding nature walks.

Free parking and access is available directly in front of the shop. Ask us in-store for a parking disc. There is a huge amount of public parking all around Knaresborough within an easy 5 minute walk.
