Shipping policy
1.1 UK Mainland Delivery
Chris Holmes Antiques offers quotes for secure delivery across the UK mainland using our trusted fine art and antique couriers.
Standard delivery is to your doorstep. For large or heavy items, please ensure someone is available to assist with off-loading, as deliveries are usually handled by a single driver.
If you would like your item placed inside your home, garden, or another specific location, this can be arranged in advance. Additional charges will apply. Please contact us at contact@chrisholmesantiques.co.uk before placing your order to discuss these arrangements.
At checkout, please select ‘Pick up’ (not ‘Ship’) to complete your purchase. You can then:
-
Proceed with payment, and we will send you a separate delivery payment link
-
Or contact us for a quote and receive a custom order link with delivery included
Alternatively, at checkout, select ‘Pick up’ to:
-
Collect the item in person
-
Or have your chosen agent collect the item from our UK showroom
-
If you choose not to use our delivery service, you are solely responsible for arranging your own transportation.
1.2 International Shipping
We prefer our International customers to organise their own Shipping of goods with only reputable and agents. However, International shipping quotes —including crating, delivery, and insurance—can be obtained upon request. Quotes will be based on your destination and specific requirements.
All associated costs are payable directly to the shipping company.
You may:
-
Use your own preferred shipping agent
-
Or use our recommended agent based on the quote we provide
In either case, please contact us at contact@chrisholmesantiques.co.uk before purchasing to discuss your options.
Alternatively, at checkout, select ‘Pick up’ to:
-
Collect the item in person
-
Or have your chosen agent collect the item from our UK showroom
The purchaser is responsible for all transport, insurance, and associated shipping costs. This includes any import duties, local taxes, customs clearance charges, port handling fees, or any other costs incurred when goods enter the destination country.
Chris Holmes Antiques is not responsible for any increases in duties, taxes, or related charges; any such changes will be passed directly to the purchaser.
If you do not use our recommended logistics services, you are entirely responsible for arranging, managing, and insuring the transport of your item, including compliance with all import regulations in your country.
1.3 Delivery and Shipping Times
Shipping times vary depending on the item and destination.
-
UK parcels: Most items are delivered within 2–4 weeks after payment has cleared. This is a guideline only.
-
Bulky or large UK items: Delivery may take 3–6 weeks. This is also a guideline only.
-
Orders may arrive in multiple parcels.
The timescales for dispatch from Chris Holmes Antiques depend on several factors, including payment clearance, courier availability, and demand.
Shipments outside the UK
Once payment for the UK leg of the journey has cleared, our trusted Fine Art and Antiques courier will arrange collection and delivery to your chosen shipping agent. Alternatively, the shipping agent may collect directly as part of their service. We use only experienced and trusted couriers to ensure safe transport of goods; however, their availability for collection and delivery timescales will vary.
After goods have been delivered to the shipping company or agent for export, the shipping schedule becomes the responsibility of the buyer (importer) and/or their shipping agent. Chris Holmes Antiques has no control over this stage.
Shipping agents usually provide timescale estimates for the time that the goods are in transit. These estimates do not include:
-
Crating or packing
-
UK collection
-
Queuing prior to shipment
-
Delays caused by late payment by the importer/buyer
-
Delays in the importer/buyer providing necessary documentation
-
Customs delays at any border
-
Any other unforeseen delays
When we provide a shipping quote, we forward the shipping agent’s full quotation, including their terms and conditions. We strongly recommend that buyers read and understand these before proceeding.
Important: Chris Holmes Antiques accepts no responsibility for any delays or damage to goods after they have been handed over to the shipper, or to any other party, by our courier. We will not be held responsible or liable for any compensation or refunds in such cases.
1.4 Shipping Notification
We will notify you as soon as your item has been shipped and provide any available tracking details if applicable.
1.5 Insurance and Damaged Goods
All items are fully insured during transit until they are received or signed for.
Please inspect your item immediately upon delivery. If you discover any damage, notify us right away at contact@chrisholmesantiques.co.uk, and include photographs of both the packaging and the item.
Damage claims must be made within two days of delivery. If you confirm receipt and do not report any issues within this time, we may be unable to assist you in claiming compensation from the shipping company. The international shipping provider is ultimately responsible for reimbursing you for any damage during transit.
