A beautiful decorative English Queen Anne Chinoiserie panel, most likely originally from a large cupboard, bureau or bookcase- long since removed and now a work of art in its own right.

Created c.1720-1729.

The delightful piece is decorated front and back. The front side in green lacquer and sculpted japanned chinoiserie depicting figures taking tea, flowers, birds and a pagoda within a natural landscape of stylised trees and rock faces. The back side which would have been the internal facing side, is adorned with birds, insects, delicate flowers surrounding a family dining. Surmounting the red lacquer panel is a sunburst of radiating gold.

The panel could be propped or hung to display each sides wonderful colour and entrancing decoration.
