A rare antique Crossbow Bolt holder c. 18th Century or earlier.
Hand crafted and stitched in thick heavy duty leather. This extremely rare and beautiful object was created with a very practical purpose in mind. Used to carry the Bolts for the Huntsman’s Crossbow, an invaluable piece of Military kit in his working life.
Bearing the initials “P.V.” - which we can safely assume represent the original owners name. With some naive old repairs and a belt which while possibly not original, has obviously been attached for many years.
Now, after the passing of centuries we have an incredibly tactile and time worn piece of Folk Art, linking us back to the original Huntsman.
Belt length 94 cm.
- Width: 12 cm (4.72″)
- Height: 27 cm (10.63″)
- Depth: 11 cm (4.33″)
