An elegant statue of ‘Diana Bathing’. Attributed to manufacturers Austin and Seeley c.1840. Austin partnered with John Seeley around 1840. Seeley trained at the Royal Academy Schools and developed an artificial stone called ‘artificial limestone’. Works by the duo can be identified by their quality, which was recognised by Queen Victoria, who was one of their patrons. With a wonderful patina and traces of flaking paint, she’s a perfect romantic addition to any garden. (Height of statue alone is 120cm. Plinth is 57cm h x 31cm d x 31cm w.)
