This rare and important Sundial originating from 'The Rectory at Copgrove', North Yorkshire.

Carved in Burton Leonard limestone (the Village's limestone) and discussed in world famous ‘Mrs Alfred Gatty's - "The Book of Sundials 1809-1873" One of the foremost writers on Sundials in the 19th Century!

Created for the Rectory house and gardens in 1840 - with provenance direct from the Estate. We have number of images showing the Sundial in the Rectory garden during the last 150 years - including an artists rendition and an early photograph.
