A primitively formed rustic stone cheese press, repurposed as a platter for your table c.1880 or earlier

Worth noting are the carvings into the face of the stone which once would have guided the flow of residual liquid away from the pressing cheese or butter pat. The sides are roughly cut, the object has great colour and patination.

This wonderful piece would now be beautiful repurposed as a platter for cheese, a still life or as a sculptural work of art in its own right.
