Digitalis In Lumine (Foxglove In Light)” by Chloë Holt RCA FRSA — Foxgloves emerge briefly as luminous forms, appearing almost as apparitions before dissolving back into shadow and atmosphere. Built through layered pastel and acrylic, the work explores the way light moves through living things — not simply illuminating them, but transforming them into carriers of colour, emotion and presence.
Rather than describing the flower botanically, the composition moves between structure and disappearance, allowing the foxgloves to hover at the threshold between form and light. The surface retains a softness and instability that reflects the fleeting nature of growth itself: fragile, transient and momentarily radiant.
“Foxgloves appear briefly as apparitions, catching light before dissolving back into space. The work reflects my fascination with how luminosity is carried through living things, how colour can create emotion without being illustrative: a moment where growth, fragility and illumination coincide.”
