Original painting by Chloë Holt RCA FRSA. One of the youngest artists ever to be elected a member of the RCA. Winner of the 2012 Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize, Chloe also, in 2010 won the International Lorenzo il Magnifico prize by the Florence Biennale for works on paper.

“The pale faces of spring, the feeling of rebirth. Magnolia and papaver poppies unfurl to reveal their delicate luminous and architectural petals.

Selene is the Greek Goddess of the Moon. In Greek mythology she can be found depicted in scenes with her beloved - Endymion, the shepherd - a beautiful man who is granted eternal youth and eternal sleep with sleep-inducing poppies. The myth of Selene and Endymion is one of fulfillment through unending sleep and yet Selene gives allusions to the changeless cycle of nature.”
