Early 19th Century English High-Back Elm Settle

A wonderful Early 19th Century English Elm Settle.

A grand scale with a superb curved planked high-back; a thick rustic plank curved seat; and terminated by curved carved shaped slab end supports bearing visible historical graffiti and makers stamp spelling “STURVER”.
The rough hewn slabs of wood have exposed areas of burr and knots - the figured timber giving this piece real provincial charm.
A truly striking primitive form with great depth of aged colour and patination.
