A striking large-scale floor-standing French Palladian Cheval mirror c.1840

Created from figured walnut veneer.

The graphic streamlined Palladian style is strongly influenced by the sixteenth century architect Andrea Palladio. Characterised with Classical forms, strict proportions and austere exteriors.

The tilting mirror is held on minimal brass brackets by two Palladian columns. The surmounting top is based on the elevations of Roman temple facades. Symmetrical and temple-like, pure elegance. This piece would sit in any style interior as a Classical statement piece.

The mirror rolls on it’s original brass casters.
