A beautiful Leather Clad Dome-topped Marriage chest dated 1676. With ornate and decorative brass studs spelling out the exact date of creation and displaying the initials R.K. The hinged lid divided by interwoven studded leather straps into a grid of rectangular panels framing the date and initials. Notable details are the sheet metal corner brackets and an iron hasp, lock and key to the centre above a second lock securing the secret concealed fall-front compartment at the base. The interior beautifully lined in hand-marbled paper. The sides fitted with blacksmith made handles.
