A small and particularly intimate work by Chloë Holt, Pomum Suspenditum (The Suspended Apple) explores one of the recurring threads within her practice — the passing of time and the transformation of familiar objects through paint.

The suspended apple is caught between growth and fall, emerging from a beautifully worked surface of oil and gesso. Chloë’s characteristic layering, abrasion and gestural mark-making gives the painting an almost archaeological quality, with forms appearing and disappearing across the surface.

Presented in an antique gilt frame chosen by the artist, whose worn gilding and patina sit naturally alongside the aged, fractured quality of the painting.
