A primitive vernacular stick chair circa 18th Century.
Of small scale with a direct, sculptural form, the chair is constructed with a naturally shaped top rail and curved arm supported by vertical spindles above a plank seat and splayed legs joined by a stretcher. The surface has developed a deeply worn patina over time, with rich colour and texture from generations of use.
Primitive in character, folk art in its expressive creation, the chair has a strong visual presence despite its modest proportions.
18th Century and later.
