A magical, rare ‘Pop Up Book’ “Tony and The Circus Boy” illustrated and designed by Kubasta c.1960

Designed and produced by ARTIA for BANCROFT & CO. (PUBLISHERS) LTD. WESTMINSTER LONDON S. W. 1. Featuring 8 pages plus a spectacular double-page pop-up colour illustration of the circus, featuring the ringmaster centrally surrounded by a menagerie of circus animals: elephants, monkeys, horses, camels, bears, zebras. The circus band seated at the very top.

Flush-cut quarter cloth and colour pictorial card covers, with the front cover artwork repeated on the outside rear cover, and a two-colour illustration on the inside front cover. The front main artwork is signed by the artist. In great condition.

Voitech Kubasta (1914-1992), a Czech architect and artist, is deservedly famous for his artworks in this genre. Examples of his work can be found in the Met Museum.
