Fabulous Venetian Baroque Armchair in hand-loomed Fortuny silk-velvet fabric over a horse-hair base. c.1750

With extravagant scrolls and luminous water-gilded and gessoed carved frame. The Baroque style was famed for its over-the-top theatrical indulgence and drama.
