Vicenza Stone Bacchante Nymph

A mid 20th Century delicately carved Vicenza Stone Bacchante Wine-making maiden or nymph carrying grapes and vines. Vicenza Stone is a naturally found limestone found in the Berici hills close to Venice, characterised by its soft light ivory colour and floury texture containing macrofossils from a fossilised coral barrier reef which collapsed 30 million years ago.
